International Women’s Day falls on 8th March every year, and serves to draw attention to the important things women are doing around the world everyday. So, with inspiring female stories being the order of the day, it’s only right that we celebrate the occasion by shining a light on Waldo’s founder and CEO, Ashleigh Hinde.
Ashleigh founded Waldo in August 2017, and has since grown it into a global company serving over 50,000 subscribers worldwide. But prior to Waldo, Ashleigh’s early successes prove she has been an overachiever from a young age.
At the age of 10, she won the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
By the age of 27, she had graduated from Harvard University with a Masters degree.
At 28, she had launched her own business, while her close-knit family and support system were cheering her on from the other side of the world in South Africa.
Read on to find out what Ashleigh has to say on the eternally important subject of female empowerment and discover who she has to thank for her entrepreneurial spirit.
“For me, IWD is a time to shine a light on the accomplishments of woman from past, present and future. I come from a family of strong-willed, hard-working individuals but my mother was by far the most ambitious figure in my life, having set up her own business aged 25 while still looking after my brother and I. As we celebrate Waldo turning two in August, and I reflect on the last two years, my mum has definitely been my source of fuel for me in this journey. I’ve also been fortunate enough to work with a number of inspiring role models and colleagues who have lifted me up and allowed Waldo to become what it is today.”
